The Perfect Weekend Travel Planner (package)

You know it’s beautiful outside but you can’t decide what to do…how about the perfect weekend?

Whether you live in Atlanta, Columbia, or Knoxville, you can get to Hendersonville and the Claddagh Inn Friday evening after work for the perfect weekend.  It is that simple.

DAY ONE (arts/culture):  The Flat Rock Playhouse is one of the biggest attractions in the mountains of Western North Carolina and there is a downtown stage within walking distance of the Claddagh Inn.  How perfect is that?  You can also go to Southern Appalachian Brewery and listen to live music (two blocks away) or you can sit in the comfortable rocking chairs on the front porch with your partner and enjoy small town America.

DAY TWO (outdoor adventure):  Start off with a delicious hot breakfast in the Claddagh’s dining room.   If you like hiking and kayaking and taking great pictures, we have some spectacular options.  Our friends at Green River Adventures escort inflatable kayak trips on the Green River (20 minutes away) and they offer our guests a special discount.  Kayaking is a half-day event which leaves the other half for a picnic and a hike or maybe a little shopping.  Just tell us how easy or difficult of a hike you are looking for and we will suggest the perfect hike for any age.  Don’t forget your camera!

DAY THREE (a little more adventure and drive home):  Even though you are going home you still get a wonderful breakfast and the opportunity to see a few things on your way home.  You have to see the waterfalls at Dupont State Forest before you go.  It was one of the filming locations for the “Hunger Games” and it is spectacular.

North Carolina has high hopes for Hunger Games

“Hunger Games” could bring fans to the Hendersonville area

Hollywood is looking for record-setting box office revenue with yesterday’s release of “Hunger Games”.  The movie was entirely filmed in North Carolina and many of the filming locations are open to the public.  Scenes were shot in Dupont State Forest (25 min drive) and Pisgah National Forest (35 min drive).  Other locations include Shelby, Hildebran, North Fork Reservoir, and Charlotte.  More information on filming sites can be found at visitnc.com.
